This 1-year observational study found that more patients receiving long-acting, injectable risperidone(Drug information on risperidone) than those receiving routine care, mostly with first-generation antipsychotics, satisfied the symptomatic criteria for remission after a 6-month period.

People with early onset psychosis can behave and function properly only a few years after the illness emerges. This two-year longitudinal, prospective study found that more than one-quarter of patients diagnosed with early onset psychosis before age 18 had remission of important brain and behavioral dysfunctions, a good score on a global assessment scale, and average academic achievement.
