Led by the American College of Cardiology Foundation and the American Heart Association, a joint Task Force has defined the key clinical data standards for peripheral atherosclerotic vascular disease. The authors intend the data standards to assist in the development of structured reporting systems and in the organization and design of electronic medical information systems, including clinical database and decision support tools.

Another article in same journal shows that by Doppler echocardiography may be the best way to predict death among heart failure patients in the community. It finds that pulmonary artery systolic pressure proves a strong, independent predictor of all-cause death and cardiovascular death independently of other known predictors, including diastolic function measures and brain natriuretic peptide, and traditional prognostic factors.
